GloRilla and Sexyy Red Achieve 2024’s Final No. 1 Charts
As we approach the final chart cycle of 2024, GloRilla continues to make waves with her impressive achievements this year. She has officially secured her first No. 1 position on Billboard’s Rhythmic Airplay chart with the hit single “Whatchu Kno About Me,” a collaborative effort with Sexyy Red. This dynamic duo’s single has surged from the No. 3 position to claim the top spot on the chart dated December 28. While GloRilla celebrates her inaugural No. 1 hit, Sexyy Red notches her second No. 1 on this radio ranking, marking her first achievement as either a lead or co-lead artist, highlighting their combined popularity in the music scene.
With a remarkable 10% increase in plays, “Whatchu Kno About Me” ascends to the pinnacle of the Rhythmic Airplay chart, becoming the most-played song on the monitored U.S. rhythmic radio panel during the tracking week ending December 19, as reported by Luminate. This exciting collaboration dethrones Future’s “Too Fast,” which slips to the No. 2 position after a week at the top, showcasing the dynamic nature of the current music landscape.
This new chart-topping hit also draws inspiration from a classic Rhythmic Airplay success, sampling Lil Boosie’s “Wipe Me Down,” featuring Foxx and Webbie. That track originally peaked at No. 23 in 2007 and impressively spent 16 weeks on the chart, highlighting the enduring influence of past hits on contemporary music trends.
It’s noteworthy that GloRilla’s achievement marks her first No. 1 on the Rhythmic Airplay chart. Prior to this milestone, her earlier singles had come close to the top. Notably, her collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B, titled “Wanna Be,” peaked at No. 3 in August, while her solo effort “TGIF” reached the runner-up position just last month. These near misses underscore her rising star power in the industry.
For Sexyy Red, the success of “Whatchu Kno About Me” marks her second No. 1 on the Rhythmic Airplay chart. Previously, she collaborated with SZA on Drake’s “Rich Baby Daddy,” which enjoyed a two-week reign in December 2023. This latest achievement is significant as it represents her first time leading as a primary or co-lead artist, with her previous highest ranking in this category being No. 8 with her single “Get It Sexyyy” in July.
Building on their recent success, “Whatchu Kno About Me” also claims the top position on the Rap Airplay chart, making a similar leap from No. 3 to No. 1. This impressive rise follows a 10% increase in audience engagement, allowing it to replace Future’s “Too Fast,” which now sits at No. 2 after experiencing an 11% drop in audience. Notably, this achievement marks GloRilla’s third No. 1 on the Rap Airplay chart, following the success of her earlier tracks “Tomorrow 2” featuring Cardi B, which ruled for six weeks, and “TGIF,” which held the top spot for eight weeks earlier this year. In contrast, Sexyy Red celebrates her second Rap Airplay No. 1 after “Rich Baby Daddy” dominated for four weeks in December 2023.
In addition to their current hit, GloRilla and Sexyy Red are collaborating on another promising track. They are featured alongside Lil Wayne on Tyler, The Creator’s “Sticky,” which has climbed from No. 10 to No. 8 on the Rhythmic Airplay chart, reflecting a 17% increase in plays. Additionally, the song maintains its No. 11 position on the Rap Airplay chart, with an 11% rise in audience engagement, showcasing the artists’ growing influence on the music charts.
