In the category of Best Rock Album, the nominees feature an impressive lineup: the Black Crowes with their album Happiness Bastards, Green Day for Saviors, Pearl Jam with Dark Matter, the Rolling Stones for Hackney Diamonds, and Jack White with No Name. Additionally, The Beatles have received nominations in the Record of the Year and Best Rock Performance categories for their track “Now and Then,” as well as for Best Audiobook with All You Need Is Love: The Beatles In Their Own Words.

In the running for the Best Rock Song award, nominations include the Black Keys with their track “Beautiful People [Stay High]”, Pearl Jam for “Dark Matter”, and Green Day for “Dilemma,” among others. The rock performance category is also competitive, featuring the Black Keys (“Beautiful People [Stay High]”), Green Day (“The American Dream Is Killing Me”), and Pearl Jam (“Dark Matter”) vying for the coveted awards.
In the realm of metal, Metallica and Judas Priest have both received nominations for Best Metal Performance with their tracks “Screaming Suicide” and “Crown of Horns,” respectively. In the Best American Roots Performance category, Mick Fleetwood of Fleetwood Mac has been nominated for his rendition of Memphis Minnie’s “Nothing In Rambling,” a collaborative effort featuring the Fabulous Thunderbirds and Bonnie Raitt, among others.
Acclaimed musician Mark Knopfler is recognized with a nomination for Best American Roots Song for his work titled “Ahead of the Game.” Additionally, Little Feat has been nominated for Best Traditional Blues Album with their album Sam’s Place. The documentary Disciple, which shines a light on the career of long-time Bruce Springsteen collaborator Stevie Van Zandt, has also received recognition in the Best Music Film category.
In the category for Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package, nominations include John Lennon’s Mind Games and Nirvana’s In Utero. The Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical category sees Peter Gabriel’s i/o nominated, while Roxy Music’s Avalon and Gabriel’s i/o have both earned nods for Best Immersive Audio Album.
Reflecting on last year’s Grammy highlights, Metallica took home the award for Best Metal Performance with their album 72 Seasons. The Beatles’ newly constructed clip for “I’m Only Sleeping” was awarded Best Music Video, while the David Bowie documentary Moonage Daydream claimed the Grammy for Best Music Film in 2024.
