Janelle Brown Explains to Meri Why She Can’t Trust Kody
Janelle Raises Concerns Over Kody’s Financial Management
In a candid discussion regarding the family’s financial struggles, Janelle expressed her frustration about their ongoing inability to settle the debt for Coyote Pass. She revealed that Kody often cited having “all these other debts” as a reason for their financial predicament. Yet, she noted with concern that he seemed to acquire various assets, including trailers and home décor, without hesitation. “I see all the art on their walls,” she remarked, referring specifically to Robyn and Kody’s residence. “I see all these things. And that’s fine, I have money and I’ve spent it on things, too.” Kody defended his spending by stating that a significant portion of his income was allocated towards purchasing vehicles—he humorously described having “basically a fleet”—and providing insurance for their children.
Although Janelle admitted that she was uncertain about the financial practices of Kody and Robyn, she expressed her surprise at the lavishness of Robyn’s backyard, which she noted was “completely finished” and always featured various items and decorations. “I used to think, ‘Wow. Huh,'” she commented, reflecting on her observations. This discrepancy in financial priorities led Janelle to feel neglected, as she stated, “He doesn’t prioritize what I need or what I want.” This ongoing issue gradually took a toll on her, leading to frustration not only for herself but also for her adult children, who voiced their concerns, asking, “What the hell, Mom?”
On the other hand, Robyn shared her perspective, explaining that her past experiences, particularly following the collapse of her first marriage, made her extremely cautious with her finances. “I used to be not so great with money,” she admitted during the September 22 episode. “When I was young, I had hard knocks, and then I learned during my divorce really how to budget myself very, very well.” Addressing the differences in financial priorities among the sister wives, she stated, “You just must have had a different priority of where your money was going to go than I did, that’s all,” emphasizing her careful approach to budgeting and spending.
