Janelle Expresses Concerns About Kody’s Financial Management
During a recent discussion about the family?s financial struggles, particularly their challenges in paying off Coyote Pass, Janelle voiced her frustrations regarding Kody’s handling of their collective finances. She highlighted that Kody often mentioned having “all these other debts,” yet she observed him acquiring various assets, including trailers and home decorations. “I see all the art on their walls,” she noted, referring to the lavish items in Robyn and Kody’s residence. “I see all these things. And that?s fine, I have money and I?ve spent it on things, too.” Kody, on his part, explained that a significant portion of his funds was allocated to purchasing cars?boasting of having “basically had a fleet”?as well as insurance costs for the children.
Janelle went on to express her uncertainty about how Kody and Robyn managed their finances. She reflected on her surprise at the luxurious state of Robyn’s backyard, which was “completely finished” and always adorned with various items. “I was like, ‘Wow. Huh,’” she admitted, illustrating her growing feelings of confusion regarding their financial priorities.
Ultimately, Janelle concluded, “He doesn’t prioritize what I need or what I want,” a sentiment that began to take a toll on her emotionally. Over time, she realized this disparity in financial priorities was upsetting not just for her, but also for her children. “My adult children were getting very angry about it, like, ‘What the hell, Mom?’” she recounted, emphasizing the strain this placed on her family dynamics.
On the other hand, Robyn offered her perspective on financial management, noting that her approach changed after her first marriage ended. ?I used to be not so great with money,” she candidly shared during the Sept. 22 episode. “When I was young, I had hard knocks, and then I learned during my divorce really how to budget myself very, very well.” Addressing her sister wives, she added, “You just must have had a different priority of where your money was going to go than I did, that’s all,” highlighting the varying financial philosophies within their family.
