Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Deny Multi-Million Dollar Wedding Rumors
Jeff Bezos is swiftly dispelling wedding rumors faster than the speed of Amazon Prime delivery.
The billionaire and Amazon founder is actively refuting the swirling rumors regarding a potentially extravagant wedding with his fiancée, Lauren Sánchez.
On Sunday, December 22, Bezos, who is 60 years old, took to X (formerly Twitter) to put an end to the speculation surrounding the allegedly lavish ceremony, which was rumored to be costing millions of dollars.
Early on Sunday morning, Bill Ackman, the CEO of Pershing Square, shared a recent article from The New York Post, which referenced reporting from the Daily Mail. This article suggested that Bezos was poised to marry Sánchez, who is 55, on Saturday, December 28, during an “extravagant $600 million wedding in Aspen, Colorado.”
The article claimed that the wedding ceremony would feature stunning holiday decorations and a winter-wonderland theme, all hosted at Kevin Costner’s Ranch in Aspen. The alleged guest list included a roster of A-list celebrities, such as Kris Jenner, Bill Gates, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Queen Rania of Jordan—all of whom had attended the couple’s engagement in August 2023.
Ackman’s post challenged the credibility of the story, stating, “This is not credible. Unless you are buying each of your guests a house, you can’t spend this much money,” he expressed.
Bezos responded with further clarification, emphasizing how unfounded the claims were. “Furthermore, this whole thing is completely false — none of this is happening.”
“The old adage ‘don’t believe everything you read’ is even more true today than it ever has been. Nowadays, lies can travel all the way around the world before the truth even gets out of bed. So be careful out there folks and don’t be gullible,” Bezos elaborated.
He concluded his statement by hinting at the “interesting” corrections that would be required from the media outlets that propagated the false information.
Responses to Bezos’ early morning clarification were varied and expressive.
One skeptical follower remarked, “I commented on an earlier post noting that the cost is absurd. $600 million for a wedding doesn’t even sound feasible or realistic unless the pope is officiating.”
Another commenter humorously stated, “Jeff Bezos from Dade County! The 305 in him won’t ever let him spend that much on a wedding. Dude will quietly book the Biltmore and go on about his business.”
One follower noted the irony of the situation, saying, “I liked that the story contained an ad for an Amazon Wedding Registry,” pointing out a humorous twist.
Even fellow billionaire and CEO of X, Elon Musk, joined the conversation regarding the rumor, stating, “That said, I hope you do hold an epic wedding. It’s nice to know that epic events are happening somewhere in the world, even if one is not present. A world where there are amazing events somewhere is better than a world where they are happening nowhere,” he expressed.
However, one follower, representing the average person outside the billionaire tax bracket, humorously asked Bezos, “Hey Jeff, could I get 100k for Christmas please?”
Sánchez supported Bezos’ assertion by sharing a screenshot of his post along with an image of the article, boldly marked with the words “Not true!” over it.
Bezos and Sánchez began dating in January 2019, just days after he finalized his divorce from ex-wife MacKenzie Scott, and they announced their engagement in May 2023. Although the former media correspondent and the billionaire have kept their wedding date under wraps, Sánchez has expressed her enthusiasm regarding her second marriage.
“You know what I’m most excited about? I get to marry the man of my dreams,” Sánchez shared in a previous interview with Extra.
“I do,” she added affectionately. “He’s amazing. I get to spend the rest of my life with him, and he loves my kids. And that is really what I am looking forward to.”
Many online have expressed skepticism regarding the union, with some labeling Sánchez as a “gold digger,” suggesting that her affections may be motivated by Bezos’ wealth.
Critics have also taken aim at Sánchez for her revealing selfies, latex outfits, and what some perceive as “cheap and classless” fashion choices.
