Jered Threatin’s Return to Music: What’s Really Happening?

Jered Threatin has triumphantly made his musical comeback with an impactful new track titled “Die Young,” complemented by a deeply moving video that sheds light on his recent health struggles. This release not only marks his return but also provides a candid look into the challenges he has faced, creating an emotional connection with his audience.

Threatin first gained significant attention among rock and metal enthusiasts in 2018 when he executed one of the most notorious hoaxes in music history. He cleverly orchestrated a European tour by deceiving promoters with fabricated YouTube videos, creating the illusion of a massive following, and even convincing bandmates to participate in his elaborate ruse.

As the artist explained to Rolling Stone during that era, ?There was no way that I was going to get enough attention being a rock artist in 2018 unless I did something to get people to pay attention? It?s a publicity stunt, but the music is very real.? This daring strategy garnered worldwide media coverage, propelling him into the spotlight.

Despite the frenzy surrounding his publicity stunt, Threatin largely retreated from the public eye until late January when a poignant video emerged, revealing his struggles with serious health issues. The stark visuals and emotional storytelling in the video provide insight into his tumultuous journey, inviting viewers to empathize with his plight.

For more details on his health challenges, including his diagnosis, surgical procedures, and his plans for future music, continue reading below.

In a poignant moment towards the end, Threatin is seen unbuttoning his hospital gown to reveal a substantial scar running down his sternum. His reaction, a stunned “Wow,” is met with his wife?s concerned inquiry about his expectations, to which he responds with a solemn head shake, highlighting the gravity of his situation.

A message accompanying the video reveals, “Due to severe health issues, Jered Threatin has been hospitalized. After years of misdiagnosis, it was discovered that he had a life-threatening illness. Following a series of heart attacks, he underwent an emergency open-heart surgery that left him in a coma.” This transparency about his health struggles adds depth to his music, allowing fans to understand the personal battles he has fought.

“In a race against his declining health, ‘Die Young’ was recorded in the weeks leading up to his hospitalization. Understanding Jered Threatin’s Health Challenges and Recovery Journey

Upon discovering the news through Jered Threatin’s powerful song and music video, we reached out for further information and received a detailed response from his wife, Kelsey, who provided additional insights into his health situation.

She shared that the musician was diagnosed with CTEPH, or Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension. Following this diagnosis, he was urgently admitted for PTE surgery, technically known as Pulmonary Thromboendarterectomy, which is critical for his recovery.

The American Lung Association defines CTEPH as “a rare and progressive form of pulmonary hypertension which can develop when chronic pulmonary embolism, or blood clots, form scar-like tissue in the lung?s arteries, blocking or narrowing the arteries.” This condition poses severe risks to the patient’s health and requires timely intervention.

Regarding its effects on the body, the Association further explains, “CTEPH leads to blood clots that become lodged in the lungs, obstructing blood flow and causing the formation of scar tissue. Consequently, the right side of the heart is compelled to exert more effort, which can lead to heart failure. Additionally, the oxygen levels in the bloodstream may drop significantly due to the prolonged travel time of blood through the lungs, resulting in potential damage to vital organs and tissues that rely on oxygen to function properly.”

According to UC San Diego Health, the PTE procedure typically lasts between eight to ten hours and involves opening the chest while connecting the patient to a heart-lung bypass machine. During the procedure, the patient’s body is cooled to approximately 64-68 degrees Fahrenheit. This deliberate reduction in temperature minimizes the body’s oxygen demand, thereby safeguarding the organs during this critical surgery.

The health organization elaborates, “During crucial phases of the operation, the surgeons temporarily halt the heart-lung machine, ceasing circulation for up to 20 minutes to create a bloodless surgical field. They then proceed to clear the arteries blocked by chronic clots and scar tissue, repeating the on-off cycle of the bypass machine until all obstructive material is successfully removed.”

Kelsey shared that Threatin has spent years searching for answers regarding his persistent health issues. “Over the past decade, he has experienced multiple hospitalizations, each fraught with misdiagnoses and bewildering comments from doctors, such as, ‘I’ve never seen anything like this,’” she explained. “As his condition deteriorated, we consulted a multitude of specialists to identify the underlying cause. Each hospitalization seemed to result in longer stays, leading to several heart attacks and ultimately heart failure before he received a proper diagnosis and was directed to emergency surgery. This most recent hospital stay has extended beyond a month.”

Regarding his recovery, Kelsey noted, “Following the PTE surgery and his emergence from the coma, he had to relearn essential functions like breathing and walking independently. Although he still requires supplemental oxygen, his respiratory function has shown improvement. However, the healing process for his chest, which was surgically wired shut, is anticipated to take over a year, contingent upon no further complications arising.”

What?s Next for Jered Threatin: Upcoming Music Releases

Kelsey revealed that Threatin had been diligently working on new music prior to his hospitalization. “As his health rapidly declined, he hurried to finalize his second album, The Meaning of It All. He managed to complete the project just before his hospitalization,” she stated. “The album has just been mastered at Abbey Road Studios and will be released soon, signaling an exciting new chapter for him.”

For the time being, “Die Young” stands as the inaugural release from his highly anticipated upcoming album, offering fans a glimpse into his journey and resilience.
