Josh O’Connor Stars in Upcoming Steven Spielberg Film
Acclaimed actor Josh O’Connor is set to star alongside the talented Emily Blunt in an exciting new project helmed by the legendary Steven Spielberg. Speculation suggests this film may delve into the intriguing realm of UFOs, promising an engaging narrative that captivates audiences.
In this highly anticipated yet untitled film, Josh O’Connor will share the screen with an impressive ensemble cast that includes Colin Firth from Kingsman: The Secret Service, Colman Domingo of Euphoria fame, and Eve Hewson from Hedda. The collaboration of such a talented group promises to deliver a captivating cinematic experience that will leave audiences enthralled.
While details about the film remain sparse, it is rumored to be a UFO-themed movie stemming from Spielberg’s own creative vision. The screenplay will be crafted by David Koepp, known for his work on Jurassic Park. Given Spielberg’s illustrious history with iconic extraterrestrial narratives like Close Encounters of the Third Kind, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, and War of the Worlds, excitement is palpable. Universal Pictures has already marked this project for a May 15, 2026 release, generating significant buzz among film enthusiasts.
Recently, O’Connor showcased his talent in Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers, where he starred alongside Zendaya and Mike Faist. In addition, he is set to feature in Rian Johnson’s upcoming film, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery. This film boasts a star-studded lineup including Daniel Craig, who reprises his role as detective Benoit Blanc, alongside industry heavyweights like Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, and Jeremy Renner. Such a remarkable cast guarantees a thrilling and engaging mystery.
Moreover, Spielberg is also developing a new adaptation of Bullitt, the classic action thriller that originally starred Steve McQueen. This project received an update from Kristie Macosko Krieger, a prominent producer partnering with Spielberg. She mentioned, “I’m producing it. Steven [Spielberg] and Josh Singer, who is writing the script, they are working on the story,” adding further anticipation to the project. “I hope we have a script soon as the writers’ strike put us behind a bit. But they are working on it – I couldn’t tell you if it’s the next movie we are making as I don’t know at this point. I think that it will be a wildly entertaining film.“
The original Bullitt film, based on Mute Witness by Robert L. Fish, featured Steve McQueen as a determined San Francisco cop on a mission to track down a notorious underworld kingpin responsible for the murder of a witness under his protection. In this new adaptation, Spielberg is set to direct and produce, with Josh Singer crafting the screenplay. Bradley Cooper will take on the lead role of Frank Bullitt. It’s important to note that this film will not be a direct remake of the 1968 classic; instead, it will present an original storyline centered around the iconic character. Additionally, Steve McQueen’s children, Chad and Molly McQueen, will serve as executive producers alongside Bradley Cooper for this exciting new project.
