In a candid interview with People, Kelsea Ballerini addressed another crucial pattern in her life that required significant change—her relationship with social media. During a recent concert, she openly expressed to her fans the struggles she faces by regularly reading the comments made about her online. Recognizing the impact of these interactions, she has consciously altered her approach to engaging with certain online platforms, seeking healthier boundaries to protect her mental well-being.

“I made the decision to leave Twitter a while back, and that choice has proven beneficial for me. Twitter was quite overwhelming,” Ballerini shared with the publication. She further explained, “I discovered Reddit, but that led me through a very toxic phase, coinciding with a chaotic period in my life. Eventually, I realized it was time to establish some boundaries, which I have successfully implemented since then.”

Currently, Ballerini predominantly uses Instagram and TikTok for her social media interactions. She reflected, “Even that can feel overwhelming at times, yet I struggle with how to step away because I’m naturally inclined to please others and seek feedback.” Her reliance on social media stems from her desire to connect with fans and refine her performances based on their input. Nonetheless, she admitted, “As a sensitive artist, negative comments can still deeply affect me.”

Ballerini has been open about the positive impact of therapy in her life, revealing that her sessions have played a crucial role in helping her navigate her tendencies as a people pleaser. “My therapist advised me some time ago, ‘Kelsea, you need to care more about less,’” she recounted, emphasizing that while she still values feedback, she has learned to approach it with a healthier mindset. This growth has allowed her to lessen the emotional weight of negative comments compared to how she used to react in the past.

She stressed that maintaining her emotional and mental health requires embracing both her strengths and weaknesses. “I am acutely aware of my flaws, and I strive to maintain a healthy relationship with them. I actively work on my personal development and growth,” she shared, adding, “At the same time, I celebrate my current self, something I hadn’t fully accomplished before. Understanding oneself is crucial to truly loving oneself—I had much to learn on that journey.”

This journey of personal growth has significantly influenced her professional achievements, as evidenced by Patterns reaching the top spot on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart last year. Additionally, her upcoming Kelsea Ballerini Live on Tour 2025 has been experiencing remarkable success, consistently selling out arenas nationwide. To top it off, she recently received her first ACM entertainer of the year nomination ahead of the forthcoming Academy of Country Music Awards scheduled for May 8.
