Kit Harington Cast in The Family Plan 2
Kit Harington is set to join Mark Wahlberg in the highly anticipated sequel, The Family Plan 2, which promises to be an exciting continuation of Apple’s successful action comedy franchise. This film is expected to take audiences on a thrilling journey filled with humor and adventure, showcasing the complex dynamics of family life against the backdrop of international escapades.
According to a report by Deadline, Kit Harington is officially joining Mark Wahlberg in The Family Plan 2. The original film centers around Dan Morgan, a seemingly ordinary suburban dad and car salesman whose hidden past as an elite government assassin resurfaces, driving the plot into unexpected territories. Initially, this film captivated audiences and became Apple’s most-watched movie until it was surpassed by George Clooney and Brad Pitt’s thriller, Wolfs.
The specifics of Harington’s character in the sequel are still under wraps, yet it has been revealed that the storyline will unfold during the Christmas season in Europe. Dan Morgan meticulously plans what he hopes to be the perfect family vacation, but as his past catches up with him, the family finds themselves entangled in a series of unforeseen challenges. Mark Wahlberg expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I am beyond excited to step back into the shoes of Dan Morgan again alongside my brilliant co-stars, and with Simon and David returning. Making ‘The Family Plan’ and witnessing its immediate success with global audiences has been incredibly rewarding. We can’t wait to collaborate with our partners at Apple and Skydance again on this next chapter for the Morgan family as their European holiday inevitably goes awry.”
Returning to the director’s chair is Simon Cellan Jones, who will helm the sequel based on a script penned by David Coggeshall. Cellan Jones expressed his excitement, saying, “I’m thrilled to be back with The Morgans as they tear through Europe in search of the perfect action-packed family Christmas.” His return indicates a commitment to maintaining the essence of the original while exploring new, adventurous narratives.
Following the first film’s success, Cellan Jones hinted at the prospect of a sequel shortly after its release, implying that the story would have an international flavor. He noted, “They’d all be older and wiser. But, you know, it would definitely be a road movie. I don’t know whether it’d be Europe or South America, somewhere crazy like that. However, it would still be the same family, and the narrative would reflect how family dynamics often involve unresolved issues that linger beneath the surface, providing ample material for humor and drama.”
In his review, our own Alex Maidy shared his thoughts on The Family Plan, appreciating the entertainment value while suggesting it was best suited for the comfort of home viewing on AppleTV+. He remarked, “There is fun to be had in this movie, but it is perfectly suited to be watched on AppleTV+ rather than on a big screen. I guarantee you will find some things to like in this movie but I sincerely doubt that you will love it. Enjoyed for what it is, The Family Plan is a solid timewaster when wrapping presents this Christmas season.” For those interested, you can read the full review by Alex Maidy right here.
