Kody Refuses to Repair Relationship with Kids in Sister Wives

Janelle Raises Concerns About Kody’s Financial Management of the Family Assets

Expressing her frustrations regarding the family’s struggle to settle the debts associated with Coyote Pass, Janelle pointed out that Kody often cites having “all these other debts.” However, she has observed him acquiring various assets, including trailers and decorative items for their homes. “I see all the art on their walls,” she noted, referring to the residence shared by Robyn and Kody. “I see all these things. And that’s fine; I have money too and I’ve spent it on things as well.” Kody, on his end, justified his spending by mentioning that a significant portion of his finances went towards purchasing cars—he claimed to have “basically had a fleet”—and providing insurance for the children.

While Janelle admitted she was uncertain about the financial practices of Kody and Robyn, she remarked, “I used to always be surprised at how nice her backyard was. It was completely finished. And there was always, like, stuff at her house. And I was like, ‘Wow. Huh.’” This revelation underscored her confusion over the apparent disparity between their financial priorities.

Ultimately, Janelle expressed her disappointment, stating, “He doesn’t prioritize what I need or what I want.” This lack of consideration for her needs took a toll on her emotionally. “I think after a while, I began to see it, and my kids were getting very angry about it, like my adult children. Like, ‘What the hell, Mom?’” This situation reflects the growing dissatisfaction within their family dynamic.

In contrast, Robyn shared her perspective, emphasizing that her approach to budgeting evolved significantly after her first marriage ended. “I used to be not so great with money,” she revealed during the September 22 episode. “When I was young, I had hard knocks, and then I learned during my divorce really how to budget myself very, very well.” She highlighted that her sister wives may have had different financial priorities, stating, “You just must have had a different priority of where your money was going to go than I did, that’s all.” This statement indicates a divergence in their financial philosophies and challenges within their relationships.
