On October 24, U.S. Marshals apprehended Lil Durk in Florida. At the time of his arrest, Banks was preparing to board one of three international flights he had booked following the apprehension of the alleged hit crew he is accused of hiring. This development has added significant weight to the ongoing investigation and the case against him.
The Justice Department made public the new charges on Friday, November 8, as reported by WGN9. Prosecutors have tacked on two new felony charges, and a grand jury has officially indicted Durk. He is now recognized as the principal defendant in a prior indictment concerning the alleged hit crew, showcasing the seriousness of the allegations against him.
Lil Durk is currently contending with one count of conspiracy, one count for the use of interstate facilities to facilitate a murder-for-hire that resulted in a death, and another count related to the use, carrying, and discharge of firearms, including a machine gun, connected to a violent crime leading to death.

Prosecutors are alleging that Banks enlisted Kavon Grant to arrange accommodations and procure the firearms, ski masks, and two vehicles utilized in the attack. Reports indicate that Grant and Lil Durk traveled on a private jet from Chicago to California, while five additional men took commercial flights to San Diego from Chicago. The other individuals charged include Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey, and Asa Houston. Prosecutors claim that a text message from Lil Durk instructed Grant to avoid booking any flights under his name, adding to the evidence against him.
Once they arrived in San Diego, the group traveled to Los Angeles, stalking Quando Rondo at various locations before engaging in a shootout at a gas station. During this altercation, they reportedly discharged 18 rounds at Quando’s vehicle, escalating the situation dramatically. Allegedly, Grant also handled the financial transactions related to this criminal endeavor.
Authorities apprehended Durk in Miami after he booked flights to Switzerland and Dubai, as well as a private jet to Italy. Since then, he has remained in custody. Grant and the other members of the hit crew are also detained, facing charges that include conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire, murder-for-hire resulting in death, the use of interstate facilities for murder-for-hire leading to death, and the use of firearms in a violent crime leading to death. Notably, Jones is additionally charged with possessing a machine gun.

Following his arrest, officials in Cook County, Illinois, rescinded the keys to the city that had been awarded to him just days earlier in a ceremony that celebrated him as a self-proclaimed hometown hero. In a twist of events, shortly after his detainment, the mayor of Chicago appeared to express support for Lil Durk during a press conference, indicating the complexities of the situation.
At this time, all six men charged, including Durk, have yet to enter a plea. If found guilty, they face the possibility of a statutory maximum sentence of life imprisonment, according to WGN9, underscoring the gravity of the charges they are facing.
