Los Angeles Wildfires Threaten Hollywood Bowl’s Future
UPDATE (Jan. 9, 2025 — 4PM ET): The evacuation order for the Hollywood Bowl and its surrounding area has been officially lifted since this report was first shared.
As wildfires wreak havoc across Los Angeles County, many of the region’s most notable landmarks are facing significant danger, including the iconic Hollywood Bowl. This beloved venue, known for its stunning ambiance and rich musical history, is under threat due to the rapidly spreading flames.
The Sunset Fire, one of six major fire outbreaks currently affecting L.A., ignited on Wednesday evening and has quickly expanded its reach. Its location within the renowned Hollywood Hills places it perilously close to the Bowl, as well as other famous attractions such as the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Hollywood Sign.
In an official statement on X, the Hollywood Bowl expressed concern, stating, “Due to the Sunset Fire, we have received evacuation orders, and all Hollywood Bowl staff have safely evacuated the premises.” They also extended heartfelt appreciation to the brave firefighters who are working around the clock to safeguard the community and its cherished landmarks.

As of this report, the Sunset Fire has scorched over 60 acres in just about six hours. Firefighting teams have deployed water-dropping helicopters to combat the blaze and protect the vulnerable areas nearby.
Meanwhile, a bit further away, the famous venues along the Sunset Strip, including the Whisky a Go Go and the Troubadour, have opted to cancel their scheduled shows out of an abundance of caution for the safety of their patrons and staff.
To date, the wildfires have tragically claimed the lives of five individuals and destroyed over 2,000 structures, leading to the evacuation of more than 100,000 residents from their homes. Areas like Pacific Palisades and Altadena are among those that have been severely impacted.
