In an amusing comment to BBC Radio 2, Dommett shared, “I have never seen anything funnier than a 6ft toad storming off. It’s the most hilarious scene I’ve ever witnessed… You really can’t be upset when you’re dressed as a toad.” His light-hearted take on the situation provided some levity amid the tension.

Despite her dramatic exit, Gray still received the same compensation she would have earned had she won the competition, which is noteworthy given her emotional response during the episode. However, the audience’s reactions to her behavior were far from forgiving. “When I watched it last night, I felt something was definitely off with her. She was giving one-word answers and seemed difficult to engage with,” remarked one viewer in a comment on The Daily Mail’s coverage of the incident.

Some viewers speculated about Gray’s state of mind, suggesting that she appeared to be under the influence. “She seemed high, her eyes were erratic, and she couldn’t stand still,” one commenter noted. “Macy Gray was so passionate about ‘The Masked Singer’ that when she was informed of her elimination, she vehemently refused to leave the stage, which was clearly evident in the footage you saw last night,” judge Dave Hughes shared on “The Morning Crew” of 2Day FM the following day. He further added, “She insisted, ‘No, I’m continuing in the show,’ leading to a lengthy discussion about her departure. Eventually, she conceded and made her big reveal, but these incidents seem to highlight a pattern.”
