On June 6, Massive Attack will deliver a breathtaking headline performance at Victoria Park. This event is particularly significant as it will be powered entirely by batteries in partnership with the clean energy provider Ecotricity, allowing the festival to minimize its carbon footprint. This innovative approach not only contributes to a greener environment but also sets a stellar example for future events aiming to reduce carbon emissions and lower local air pollution.

Joining Massive Attack on this exciting day will be the legendary electronica duo Air, renowned for their impactful soundscapes. Additionally, the lineup will include dynamic artists such as Tirzah, Yasiin Bey, and The Alchemist, among others, with more acts yet to be revealed, promising an unforgettable musical experience for attendees.

Tickets for this much-anticipated event will be available for purchase starting at 10 AM (GMT) this Friday, February 21, through the official LIDO festival website. For eager fans who wish to secure their spot early, a pre-sale opportunity will open at the same time on Thursday, February 20, exclusively for those who sign up for the festival’s newsletter.

Last year, Massive Attack hosted two significant climate action concerts, highlighting their commitment to environmental sustainability. The first event, part of the ACT 1.5 initiative, took place at Clifton Downs in Bristol last August, marking the largest low-carbon concert in the UK to date. Three months later, they took the stage at Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena, joined by notable artists like IDLES and Nile Rodgers & Chic.

Reflecting on the upcoming LIDO festival and their ongoing collaboration with Ecotricity, band member Robert Del Naja (3D) expressed, ?We are thrilled to present London?s first-ever festival day powered entirely by batteries, showcasing a diverse range of talented artists. It is a significant achievement for us, as history demonstrates that the fusion of art and science is key to addressing the greatest challenges we encounter.?

He further emphasized, ?It is encouraging to see LIDO implement lessons learned from our ACT 1.5 event last year, applying innovative technologies to tackle emissions effectively. Beginning this journey towards cleaner productions is beneficial for everyone involved, especially for music enthusiasts attending festivals and the surrounding communities that they inhabit.?

The inaugural year of LIDO will span two exciting weekends, featuring other notable headliners such as Charli XCX, who will curate her groundbreaking ‘Party Girl’ event on June 14, as well as acclaimed acts like London Grammar and Jamie xx. The festival will also host the highly anticipated London edition of Outbreak, headlined by the energetic Turnstile.
