Just under a day has gone by since the fashion industry absorbed the exciting news about Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez stepping into their new roles at Loewe, and we are now faced with another significant development. Today, the renowned Mugler brand officially announced the appointment of Miguel Castro as its new creative director, taking over from Casey Cadwallader. Cadwallader has been the driving creative force behind Mugler since 2018 and departs the L’Oréal-owned label as Miguel takes the helm. The Central Saint Martins graduate brings a wealth of experience, having worked with prestigious brands such as Sportmax, Dries Van Noten, Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Givenchy, and Lanvin. Miguel is set to unveil his debut Mugler collection during the much-anticipated Paris Fashion Week this September.

“Thank goodness it’s not Panszczyk from Area.” [perhydrol]
“Oh my…” [proseccotabis]
“Who really cares about this new appointee and the Proenza team? Is there any genuine excitement surrounding these recent appointments and the upcoming ones?” [tatouejeremie]
“While Casey Cadwallader wasn’t exactly my favorite, and some of his designs seemed tailored more for creating an ‘iconic moment’ for the ‘yaaas kween’ crowd, I have to acknowledge that his collaboration with H&M and the Torso-directed fashion shows did bring a certain level of attention to the brand. I wish nothing but success for the new guy.” [Yasouss]
“Goodness gracious. How many different designers has Mugler cycled through in the last 20 years? It feels like they change designers every few years, with Casey being the only one to leave any significant mark. But, best of luck to the new creative director.” [engenius]
“There appears to be absolutely no justification for this brand to continue its existence past 2025. It feels so outdated and reflective of a bygone era. Maybe it’s time to let it fade away…” [kingtheyskens]
