Fortunately, he was admitted to the hospital just in time to receive the necessary treatment, highlighting the critical nature of recognizing early symptoms and seeking medical help promptly.
Mikkey Dee’s Heartfelt Message to His Supporters
In his heartfelt message directed at his supporters, Mikkey Dee elaborated on the circumstances surrounding his hospitalization due to Sepsis. He explained that the onset of his health issues began in early December, prompting him to seek medical attention. During the three weeks leading up to the holiday celebrations, he underwent treatment for this serious condition, emphasizing the urgency of his situation.
His statement, shared across social media platforms, conveyed his gratitude to fans for their warm Christmas and New Year wishes, despite his inability to respond during this time. He wrote:
Just a quick statement about what has been happening to me these past three weeks:
First I like to thank everyone for these heartwarming Christmas and New Years greetings, that I have not been able to respond to. I always try to do that every year.
This holiday season, I have been hospitalized with a very serious blood infection (Sepsis). I was admitted for three weeks but now I am home fighting this bastard bacteria. Thankfully, I have received fantastic
care at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, my hometown. So thanks a million to all the Doctors and Nurses that have been giving me the most excellent care. After several operations, I am now back home and the numbers are all going in the right direction. Still lots of recovery and rehab in front of me.
Now I’m working a 100% to be back on the drum stool for the Residency that starts off in Las Vegas on February 27. We have a tremendous 2025 to look forward to, celebrating 60 years of Scorpions and many exciting gigs around the world.
So, the Stinger is out and I can’t wait to see you all out there on the road and rock the hell out of you! I wish everybody a fantastic 2025 with good health and lots of Rock n’ Roll!

Insights from Mikkey Dee on His Sepsis Experience
In addition to his social media announcement, Mikkey Dee shared further insights into his health crisis during an interview with the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet. This conversation shed light on the events leading up to his diagnosis of Sepsis and the efforts he made to address his deteriorating health.
Dee recounted that he had sprained his foot in early December, managing the discomfort with Alvedon for mild fever and pain relief, along with Voltaren to reduce inflammation. However, just before Christmas, he recognized that something was amiss and made the decision to consult a medical professional.
“The ankle swelled up like hell, then it took on a weird shape and appearance and looked like an overcooked ham,” Dee described in the interview (translated to English by Blabbermouth). His condition worsened, prompting an emergency ambulance ride to Sahlgrenska, where doctors discovered alarmingly high levels indicative of a severe infection, elevating his priority for treatment.
