New Album ‘Sentient’ Announced by Carlos Santana

Carlos Santana is set to unveil a highly anticipated album titled Sentient, which will feature a blend of new tracks alongside previously released material. This new LP arrives as the follow-up to the 2021 album Blessings and Miracles, marking the 26th release from Santana and his band, showcasing their enduring talent and creativity.

Scheduled for release on March 28, Sentient boasts exciting collaborations with notable artists such as Smokey Robinson, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels, and the legendary Miles Davis and Michael Jackson. One standout new track is a reimagined version of Santana’s 2009 collaboration with Robinson, “Please Don’t Take Your Love,” which highlights Santana’s guitar work, providing a fresh perspective on their previous hit.

The album’s lead single is already generating buzz, and you can listen to it below.

In a recent press release about the album, Santana shared, “I went to the studio and did my own thing. I said, ‘Let’s just roll it.’ I did another take with Smokey, sort of guiding me. Smokey loved them both, so he wound up combining the two. What’s on Sentient is the first version.? This statement reflects Santana’s artistic approach and commitment to creative authenticity.

Another exciting addition to Sentient is Santana’s interpretation of “Stranger in Moscow,” originally by Michael Jackson. This track has been transformed into a live instrumental showcase. Santana remarked, “From Stravinsky to James Brown, it’s all the same song, meaning it’s all connected to the umbilical cord of humanity and planet Earth,” emphasizing the universal themes present in music.
