In a heartfelt message shared on Facebook, founding member Patrick Simmons expressed his gratitude to fans for their unwavering support over the years. He took a moment to reflect on the band’s remarkable journey, noting that they are celebrating nearly 56 years of musical collaboration. “It’s been a long winding road since those early days, but we’re still working together, doing our best to remain creative, and looking forward to bringing our music to you folks out there again next year,” he shared, highlighting their commitment to their craft.

As he looks ahead to the new year, Simmons provided a glimpse into what fans can expect. “Here’s the goal we’ve set for 2025,” he stated. “This train keeps rollin’ down the track, and we’re almost ready to release our new album Walk This Road sometime after the first of the year.” This revelation marks the first time the title of the upcoming LP has been disclosed, generating excitement among enthusiasts of the band.

Michael McDonald Returns: Expect Collaboration on the New Doobie Brothers Album

Simmons further revealed that the legendary Michael McDonald has contributed to this new album, which adds to the anticipation surrounding its release. McDonald’s last collaboration with the band was on the Southbound album in 2014, which featured reimagined versions of some of their classic hits. Fans will be thrilled to know that the last original material he contributed to was on the One Step Closer album back in 1980.

“We have 10 new songs sung by Tom [Johnston], Michael [McDonald], and Pat [Simmons]. The three of us wrote songs and collaborated together. We had a lot of fun recording it and we feel very proud of the results,” Simmons shared, emphasizing the collaborative spirit of the project. He also mentioned that longtime member John McFee added his exceptional musical talents to the album, further enhancing its quality.

While Simmons did not provide a specific release date, he hinted that fans could expect the band to “probably debut a song soon after the first of the year, and the full album will follow sometime in the Spring/Summer.” This timeline has left fans eager for more updates as they anticipate the new music.
