In an emotional post shared on Instagram, Owens expressed, “The last 6 years working on the live action One Piece have been a life-changing journey. It has been a dream come true. Yet, it’s also been incredibly demanding.” He added, “Therefore, I’m stepping off the Going Merry to take some time for myself and focus on my mental health. I extend my heartfelt thanks to Oda, Shueisha, Tomorrow Studios, Netflix, and the entire cast and crew for your trust, partnership, and commitment to this project. For the time being, I’m going to take a breather, engage in some therapy, attempt to rank up in Marvel Rivals, and return rejuvenated for the exciting adventures that lie ahead.”
He concluded with gratitude, stating, “Thank you to everyone who has supported me. I look forward to seeing you all very soon!”
Filming for the second season wrapped up earlier this year, and for those who may have missed the news, there are several new stars joining the cast!
In additional One Piece updates, the original anime series is set to return with fresh episodes on Cruinchyroll.
