With the John Rocker fight now off the table, TMZ Sports has reported that Patrick Mahomes Sr. is pivoting to other ventures in April to generate some income.
According to legal documents we have acquired, the father of NFL superstar Patrick Mahomes II has formally requested permission from a Smith County, Texas court to travel to Minnesota from April 12 to April 13. This trip is crucial for him as he aims to sign autographs at a highly anticipated sports card convention taking place in St. Paul.
The elder Mahomes is seeking judicial approval to proceed with this trip, as he is required to obtain the judge’s signature on his request. This stipulation is part of the conditions outlined in the plea agreement he entered into following his DWI case last year, emphasizing the legal complexities surrounding his current situation.
As of now, the judge has not yet signed off on Mahomes Sr.’s request. However, the 54-year-old has assured the court that if granted permission, he will strictly adhere to all terms and conditions of his probation, including scheduling a urine test for April 14 upon his return home, demonstrating his commitment to complying with the law.
Previously, Mahomes Sr. had agreed to engage in a bout with Rocker around the same time as the autograph event. However, following a staged incident between the two in New Orleans aimed at promoting the fight that went viral, his supervising officers expressed concerns regarding his involvement. Consequently, just days later, Dave Portnoy of the Tough N’ Rowdy organization announced the cancellation of the fight.

For what it’s worth, both Mahomes Sr. and the organizers of the autograph event are optimistic that the judge will grant him permission to attend. They have already created promotional materials, including flyers, advertising his anticipated appearance at the convention, indicating a strong belief in the event’s success.
The pricing for autographs and photographs with Patrick Mahomes Sr. is set between $10 and $15. This means he will need to sign numerous items to reach the $85,000 payday he was projected to earn from the canceled fight with Rocker, highlighting the financial stakes involved in this autograph session.
