On June 14, six legendary former members of REO Speedwagon will come together for a unique, one-night-only “retrospective” concert in their beloved hometown of Champaign, Illinois. This special event promises to be a nostalgic celebration filled with memorable performances, as these iconic musicians take the stage to relive their greatest hits and connect with fans in a heartfelt way.
The lineup includes Neal Doughty, Alan Gratzer, Bruce Hall, Terry Luttrell, Mike Murphy, and Steve Scorfina, who will be joined by special guests. The concert will also feature a poignant in memoriam segment dedicated to the late Gary Richrath and Gregg Philbin, honoring their contributions to the band and the music community.
Bruce Hall expressed his excitement on Facebook, stating, “So excited for this ONE night only event, back where it all began, in MY hometown!” He emphasized the importance of this gathering as a chance to reminisce and celebrate the band’s legacy while also raising funds for the REO Speedwagon Foundation, which supports rare GU cancer research at Moffitt Cancer Center. Hall believes that Gary would be proud and smiling down on them, making this concert not just a performance, but a meaningful tribute. Let’s rock for a cause!
Exploring the Possibility of a Full REO Speedwagon Reunion Tour
Interestingly, the concert will have one notable absence: lead singer Kevin Cronin, who is currently touring with his own band. In response to a fan’s inquiry on Hall’s Facebook post about the decision to hold just one concert instead of a full tour, Hall explained, “We were all asked by the city of Champaign to participate, and this is a wonderful way to also raise money for our cancer research foundation.” He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity and his hope for a genuine REO farewell tour in the future, stressing that Kevin’s involvement is essential for that to materialize.
Fans eager to attend this historic reunion show can purchase tickets starting March 21, making it a much-anticipated event for all REO Speedwagon enthusiasts.
