Key Developments Following NBA YoungBoy’s Guilty Plea

On Monday, November 18, reports from TSR indicated that NBA YoungBoy, whose real name is Kentrell Gaulden, entered a guilty plea concerning his involvement in a prescription drug fraud operation in Utah, as reported by the Associated Press. The 25-year-old rapper accepted guilt on two counts of third-degree identity fraud, two counts of felony forgery, and six counts of unlawful pharmacy conduct, while opting for a “no contest” plea for the remaining charges.

According to KTVX-TX, the court downgraded four of his felony charges to misdemeanors. Instead of facing jail time, YoungBoy will be required to pay a substantial $25,000 fine. Despite serious allegations of conducting the drug ring from his residence, the judge permitted him to return home on November 18. District Judge Spencer Walsh suspended the prison sentence in light of YoungBoy’s ongoing legal challenges in the state. Reports from AP News suggest that YoungBoy may still confront a 27-month federal sentence for separate charges in Weber County, Utah.

Following the resolution of his federal charges, YoungBoy is set to undergo five years of supervised probation, as outlined by Judge Walsh. During the hearing, the judge praised YoungBoy’s artistic abilities and offered him words of encouragement. In response to her supportive statements, YoungBoy simply said, “Thank you.”

“I’ve witnessed too many instances where talented young men and women have their potential compromised by struggles with addiction. I genuinely hope that you will not experience that. You exhibit great talent,” Judge Walsh stated. “My hope for you is that once you complete your federal prison time, you achieve immense success during your federal probation and enjoy a bright future where you can fully realize your potential in all areas of your life. Best of luck to you.”
