In a shocking revelation, renowned guitarist Jake E. Lee disclosed that the individual who shot him was actually targeting his beloved dog, Coco. This incident occurred late at night in October while Lee was taking Coco for a walk near his home in Las Vegas, in a moment that was meant to embody the spirit of Thanksgiving.

Lee had earlier recounted how he confronted two suspicious individuals who seemed to be attempting to steal a motorcycle. The situation escalated quickly, resulting in Lee being shot three times amidst a barrage of 15 gunshots aimed in his direction.

“I hope everyone is enjoying their Thanksgiving,” Lee shared on his social media platforms. He mentioned that he had been contemplating whether to publicly discuss his harrowing experience of being shot, ultimately deciding that sharing his story could be beneficial for him. He described the process of documenting the event as somewhat therapeutic, allowing him to move on while potentially providing an intriguing narrative for his followers.

Although he found the prospect of sharing his story “daunting,” he opted to break it down into parts, with his recent post serving as the first installment of this deeply personal account.

Lee recounted, “We were about 50 feet apart when I heard the shots. It quickly dawned on me that he wasn’t aiming at me. He was actually aiming at my dog! In a split second, I threw my end of the leash towards Coco and shouted for him to go home. Thankfully, he obeyed. He’s truly a good boy.”

“The first bullet struck my left forearm, entering about an inch below the elbow on the underside and exiting on the topside. The sensation was akin to a burn—initially not particularly painful, just a brief, searing feeling.”

Lee reflected on his injury, believing it might have merely grazed him. Fortunately, the bullet narrowly missed any bones and his elbow joint, allowing for a remarkably swift recovery.

“The scars are hardly larger or darker than some of my age spots. You’d likely need me to point them out for you to even notice,” he explained. He mentioned that all his fingers retain their mobility, although he initially lost sensation in the back of his hand, which has been gradually returning.

In his closing remarks, he expressed, “In the spirit of giving thanks, I am incredibly grateful that my dog wasn’t harmed, and I’m relieved that the injury to my fretting arm was minimal. However, there were other wounds I sustained, which I’ll elaborate on in Part 2 of my story.”
