‘Short n Sweet’ by Sabrina Carpenter Crowned U.K.’s 2024 Christmas No. 1 Album

Sabrina Carpenter has officially claimed the title of the U.K.’s Christmas No. 1 Album for 2024, showcasing her remarkable musical talent and strategic release timing.

Her sixth studio album, Short n’ Sweet, first ascended to the pinnacle of the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart back in August. This marks the 25-year-old artist’s second stint at No. 1 on the charts within the same year, signifying not just her popularity but also her ability to resonate with audiences across the nation.

Throughout 2024, this impressive LP has produced three chart-topping singles on the Official Singles Chart. These include the hit tracks “Taste,” which dominated for nine consecutive weeks, “Espresso,” which held the top position for seven non-consecutive weeks, and “Please Please Please,” achieving five weeks at No. 1. Collectively, these singles contributed to an astonishing total of 21 weeks at the top across the year. Looking ahead, Carpenter will embark on a tour across U.K. arenas and is set to headline the prestigious BST Hyde Park in London this coming July.

In a competitive landscape, Carpenter outperformed industry giant Michael Bublé, whose beloved 2011 album Christmas concludes the week at No. 2. Since its initial release, Bublé’s festive collection has enjoyed four non-consecutive weeks atop the charts, and it was recognized as the bestselling holiday album in the U.K. in 2021, solidifying its status as a holiday classic.

Meanwhile, Chappell Roan’s album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, has climbed three spots to secure the No. 3 position this week. This album previously reached the top of the charts in August, nearly a year after its initial release in September 2023, demonstrating its enduring appeal and the artist’s growing fan base.

South Yorkshire’s own The Reytons have made waves by achieving their third top 10 album on the U.K. Albums Chart with their live recording, Clifton Park. Additionally, Teddy Swims’ debut album, I Tried Everything But Therapy – Pt. 1, has reached an impressive new peak at No. 12, marking a significant milestone for the emerging artist.

Dua Lipa, the cover star of Billboard UK, has made her entrance into the top 40 with her live album Live From the Royal Albert Hall. This follows the airing of her much-anticipated TV special on ITV on December 8. In an exclusive interview with Billboard UK, she shared her experience of recording her debut live LP at the iconic London venue, accompanied by a 53-piece orchestra, a feat that showcases her artistry and performance prowess.

Lipa reflected on the emotional impact of the orchestral arrangements during her rehearsals, stating, “When we were in rehearsals, there was nothing quite like it: Those orchestral instrumentations just shook me to the core. Feeling my music in such a way that was so moving, it made me fall in love with music all over again.” Her words capture the transformative power of music and the unique experience of performing live.
