This summer, Smashing Pumpkins will not be embarking on a conventional tour. However, their iconic frontman Billy Corgan is set to honor three of the band’s most celebrated albums through a newly formed solo project. This venture promises to offer fans a unique experience, separate from the main band, highlighting Corgan’s continued evolution as an artist.
For those puzzled by this change, it’s important to clarify that the core members of Smashing Pumpkins, specifically drummer Jimmy Chamberlin and guitarist James Iha, will not be joining Corgan on this tour. Instead, he will be performing alongside his solo ensemble, Billy Corgan and the Machines of God. This name serves as a clear nod to one of the albums he will be revisiting during the summer tour.
Meet the Talented Members of Billy Corgan and the Machines of God
While Billy Corgan remains the most recognized member of this new musical ensemble, he has recently welcomed the talented Kiki Wong, a guitarist known for her work with Smashing Pumpkins, into the fold of Machines of God. This exciting lineup also includes drummer Jake Hayden, who has a rich history of collaborating with artists such as Dorothy, Beth Ditto, Nick Carter, and Missing Persons. Additionally, Kid Tigrr, the innovative alter ego of singer-songwriter Jenna Fournier from Niights, will be on bass, adding a fresh dynamic to the band.
Exploring the Albums Set for Revival During the 2025 Tour
As revealed through a recent press release and an exciting teaser video, Billy Corgan and the Machines of God will be touring in celebration of significant anniversaries: the 30th anniversary of the groundbreaking album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness and the 25th anniversary of Machina/The Machine of God along with its companion Machina II/The Friends and Enemies of Modern Music. This tour not only commemorates these iconic records but also serves as a platform for promoting the band’s latest creation, the standout 2024 release titled Aghori Mhori Mei.

The Smashing Pumpkins have officially announced exciting details regarding the long-awaited reissue of the 2000 concept albums, Machina/The Machines of God and Machina II/The Friends & Enemies of Modern Music. These albums have undergone extensive remixing and remastering to enhance their sound quality. Notably, Corgan’s Madame Zuzu’s tea shop located in Highland Park, Illinois, will exclusively offer this comprehensive 80-song box set.
