Now, his career takes another exciting turn as he joins the cast of Prime Video’s Spider-Noir and takes on a leading role in the horror comedy Halloween Store.
Spider-Noir, featuring the voice of Nicolas Cage, brings a unique twist to the superhero genre. Cage will portray Spider-Man Noir, a down-on-his-luck private investigator in 1930s New York, who grapples with his former life as the city’s sole superhero. The series is expected to consist of eight gripping episodes, each lasting approximately 45 minutes. Cage himself has expressed enthusiasm for the show, highlighting its fantasy elements that go beyond traditional superhero battles, stating, “One of the things that I like about this potential show is that it’s fantasy. It’s not really people beating people up. Monsters are involved.”
In Spider-Noir, Cage’s character, Ben Reilly, is portrayed as a retired superhero with the abilities of Spider-Man, who is now too old and broken to fight crime like he used to. Instead, he takes on low-level private investigator cases while avoiding high-profile matters, such as those involving the Mayor. Through flashbacks, viewers will uncover his past heroics and failures that shaped his current life. The pilot lays a strong foundation for his character arc, revealing a charming yet weathered persona. The cast also includes notable actors such as Brendan Gleeson as the antagonist, Li Jun Li as a nightclub singer, and several others, with Caster’s character reportedly having a significant connection to another character.
Halloween Store, directed by Shane Dax Taylor from a screenplay by Chad Law and Josh Ridgway, centers around a group of individuals who find themselves trapped inside a costume store on Halloween night, facing a mysterious killer. Caster’s character, Brock, is described as the boyfriend of the lead character, Amy (portrayed by Natalie Alyn Lind), and as a star quarterback with ulterior motives. At first glance, Brock appears to be the quintessential all-American good boy, but he harbors a potentially dark and sinister side that unfolds throughout the story. His role promises to add depth and intrigue to the narrative.
Spider-Noir is developed by Oren Uziel of 22 Jump Street fame and Steve Lightfoot, known for Marvel’s The Punisher, serving as co-showrunners and executive producers. The first two episodes will be directed and executive produced by Harry Bradbeer, acclaimed for his work on Killing Eve. The series was developed in collaboration with Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal, the creative minds behind the successful Spider-Verse films, who also hold executive producer roles.
The production of Halloween Store is a collaborative effort by Artists for Artists, Big Bad Pig Productions, and Racer Entertainment, with producers including Lind, Kenneth Burke, and Andrey Romanyuk. Taylor also serves as an executive producer, alongside Steven Schneider, John Lind, and Bradley Sloan. Notable comedians Kenan Thompson and John Ryan Jr. are further contributing to the project as executive producers through their Artists for Artists banner.
