Stream Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre’s ‘Missionary’ Album Now
Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre have officially released their highly anticipated Missionary album on Friday, December 13, through the combined powerhouse labels of Death Row Records, Aftermath Entertainment, and Interscope Records. This collaborative effort marks a significant milestone in the hip-hop landscape, showcasing the enduring legacy of these iconic artists in the music industry.
The Missionary album boasts a collection of previously released singles, including the hit tracks “Gorgeous” featuring Jhené Aiko, “Outta da Blue” featuring Alus, and “Another Part of Me” featuring the legendary Sting. The release of “Gorgeous” was particularly noteworthy, as it marked Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre’s triumphant return to Billboard‘s R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart after a 13-year hiatus, debuting at No. 29 last month and eventually peaking at No. 26, reconnecting them with their vibrant fan base.
Spanning 15 tracks, Missionary features an impressive lineup of collaborations with various renowned artists. Among these are BJ the Chicago Kid on “Fore Play” and “Now or Never,” Tom Petty and Jelly Roll on “Last Dance with Mary Jane,” K.A.A.N. on “Pressure” and “Sticky Situation,” as well as Method Man and Smitty on “Skyscrapers.” The album also includes contributions from Cocoa Sarai (“Fire” and “Sticky Situation”), 50 Cent and Eminem on “Gunz n Smoke,” and Dem Jointz, Stalone, and Fat Money on “Gangsta Pose,” showcasing a diverse range of musical talents and styles.
In an insightful interview with Entertainment Tonight back in August, Dr. Dre expressed his excitement about the roster of artists featured on the album, mentioning the collaboration with Sting as particularly remarkable. “We have Sting on the song. Man, it’s an amazing roster of artists that’s on this album. I shouldn’t have revealed that, to be honest,” he remarked, emphasizing the caliber of talent that has come together for this project.
Missionary represents their first full-length collaboration since Snoop Dogg’s groundbreaking 1993 debut studio album, Doggystyle, which not only topped the Billboard 200 but also dominated the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts. The album’s iconic single “Gin and Juice” received a nomination for Best Rap Solo Performance at the 1995 Grammy Awards, solidifying its place in hip-hop history and highlighting the duo’s longstanding influence in the genre.
This new album, Missionary, is also Snoop Dogg’s first release since 2022, when he unveiled his 19th studio album, BODR (Bacc On Death Row), alongside the debut album from the West Coast rap supergroup Mount Rushmore, which includes Snoop, E-40, Too Short, and Ice Cube, titled Snoop Cube 40 $hort. This continuation of his musical journey reinforces Snoop’s status as a pivotal figure in the evolution of hip-hop.
