This spring and summer, Ted Nugent will commemorate the remarkable 50th anniversary of his legendary guitar anthem “Stranglehold” with an exciting series of concerts across Michigan and Texas. These performances are not just a celebration of a milestone; they are an invitation for fans to experience the electrifying energy of Nugent’s music live.
For those eager to catch him in action, Nugent’s current tour schedule is detailed below.
After concluding his Adios Mofos farewell tour in 2023, the Motor City Madman expressed to UCR his intention to continue performing live as long as he can avoid the hotel scene, which he humorously compares to jails. “My life revolves around my wife, my kids, my grandkids, and my dogs,” he shared. “I will never leave home to do a tour now. I can do gigs if I can hub out of my Michigan cabin, which could include states like Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Michigan ? and possibly even Ontario again. However, I?m not going on another ‘tour’ tour.” He also mentioned his residence in Texas, which will facilitate his April and May performances.

During a 2024 interview, Nugent shared an intriguing story about how his label initially wanted to exclude “Stranglehold” from his 1975 debut album. They were concerned about the song?s eight-minute length and its unconventional, guitar solo-heavy composition. Nugent passionately recalled, “I said, ?I love you guys, but that?s insane!? Since when is there a rule that says: ?A song has to have a chorus?? It doesn?t need a chorus. It’s a movement; it?s a song. …By the way, we have a recording session that starts in one hour. Let?s go to the studio because I have a song to record. The first one?s gonna be ‘Stranglehold’.”
