“I’m not quite sure what to expect. I don’t know if we’ll have a chance to bump into each other on-screen. There’s still a lot being figured out as the writers are working on the details. But it’s all set to take place by the end of this month,” the 42-year-old actor shared with Business Insider during a recent interview, showcasing his eagerness for the project.
Jared elaborated on the motivations that led him to accept this intriguing role. His wife played a pivotal role in encouraging him to take the plunge.
“I mentioned to my wife that this role felt a bit strange, and I was uncertain about it. She asked if I was excited about the opportunity, and when I said yes, she encouraged me to pursue it. I offered to let her read the script first, but she insisted that if I liked it, I should go for it,” he recounted, highlighting the supportive nature of his relationship.
“I’m feeling a bit nervous now. My text to Eric Kripke, the showrunner, was something like, ‘If there are any scenes where I need to be naked, please give me a month’s notice so I can prepare with a strict diet of broccoli, rice, and chicken, along with rigorous workouts,’” he added, referring to the creator of both The Boys and CW’s Supernatural, expressing his commitment to getting in shape for the role.
Jared also candidly admitted the pressure he feels about his appearance on The Boys. This opportunity is both thrilling and daunting for him.
“Honestly, it’s f—ing terrifying for me,” he confessed, revealing the weight of expectations he feels as a returning star.
In addition to this exciting role, Jared is also set to headline a new series currently in development with CW, promising even more thrilling projects for his fans to look forward to.
