He reflected on how the perception of his work from the 1990s has often been less favorable, noting, “People look at my work in the ’90s, and they go, ‘It wasn’t a great decade for Bruce.’ But during that time, I was busy cleaning out the vault.”

Despite the general perception, Springsteen clarified, “I created a substantial amount of music during that period. I recorded several albums, but for various reasons, the timing wasn’t right to release them.” This upcoming box set is a testament to the rich musical legacy he built during that era.

The inaugural volume of Tracks, released in 1998, was a four-disc collection that encapsulated Springsteen’s artistic journey up to that time. It featured demos from 1972 that would later appear on his debut album, Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J., and included unreleased tracks from iconic albums like Born to Run and Darkness on the Edge of Town. Although it gathered many of Springsteen’s earlier works, it only scratched the surface of his extensive catalog.

Subsequent box sets focused on Darkness on the Edge of Town and the 1980 classic The River were released in 2010 and 2015, respectively, featuring numerous outtakes from the lengthy recording sessions of these albums.
