In a devastating twist, Rhenzy Feliz‘s character, Victor Aguilar, met his end at the hands of Oz!

Throughout the narrative, Oz took Victor under his wing, forming a strong bond. However, the moment Victor expressed that Oz was like family, it tragically sealed his fate.

“None of our characters are particularly great people,” series creator Lauren LeFranc shared with The Wrap. “I believe Victor represents the most innocent among them, allowing audiences to emotionally connect with him without fear for their own safety. I always envisioned his death as necessary and that it must occur at Oz’s hands. This story serves as a deep examination of Oz Cobb; to truly grasp his character and the darkness he harbors, it was essential for him to take Victor’s life. This action wasn’t strictly required; in that moment, Victor showed him no betrayal and did nothing wrong. In fact, his only ‘flaw’ in Oz’s view was that he loved him and genuinely cared for him, which was a significant problem for Oz.”

“By the end, Oz realizes that his profound love for his mother made him vulnerable, and Sofia exploited that love, which he began to view as a weakness. Victor witnessed Oz at his most exposed, and for Oz to attain the power he believes he needs, he cannot afford to maintain that level of humanity or emotional connection. Therefore, he suppresses his own heart, metaphorically killing it,” she elaborated.

Lauren further discussed the emotional weight of the death scene, stating, “I envisioned this death as one that felt intimate yet prolonged. It was crucial for me that the audience would feel an urge to shout at their screens, urging Oz to stop, while also experiencing fleeting moments of hope that he might relent. The tension is heightened as he persists, which makes the experience all the more painful.”

“I aimed for the scene to reflect the camaraderie established earlier in the series, where the two characters, having endured significant hardships together, share a bond that is ultimately shattered. I wanted viewers to feel as though Victor was on the brink of overcoming his challenges, only to have that hope cruelly snatched away,” she concluded.
