TikTok is making a significant comeback after a period of uncertainty and service interruptions.
In a statement released on Sunday, January 19, the company confirmed that it is actively working on restoring its services across the nation.
?In agreement with our service providers, TikTok is in the process of restoring service. We thank President Trump for providing the necessary clarity and assurance to our service providers that they will face no penalties providing TikTok to over 170 million Americans and allowing over 7 million small businesses to thrive,? the statement emphasized.
This move reflects a robust commitment to the First Amendment rights, standing firmly against what is perceived as arbitrary censorship. TikTok has expressed its intention to collaborate with President Trump to develop a long-term solution that ensures TikTok’s continued presence in the United States.
The announcement follows Trump‘s promise to offer the app a reprieve just hours before, nearly five years after he first issued an executive order aiming to ban the platform in August 2020.
Following this, TikTok initiated plans to challenge the executive order legally later that same month. In September, TikTok successfully filed for a preliminary injunction to halt the ban imposed by Trump, which was granted. After Trump left office, President Joe Biden maintained the pursuit of the ban on TikTok, citing national security concerns.
