After the show, visit Billboard.com on Friday for the complete top 10 list and the full ranking of the 100 Top Artists. In addition to the Top Artists category, nearly 500 year-end charts will also be unveiled, including summaries for the year’s top new artist, Billboard 200 albums, Billboard Hot 100 songs, and Billboard Global 200 songs.
Before we proceed, here are some important details: Billboard’s year-end music recaps compile aggregated metrics from each artist, title, label, and music contributor based on weekly charts from October 28, 2023, to October 19, 2024. Rankings for Luminate-based recaps reflect equivalent album units, airplay, sales, or streaming during the weeks that the titles appeared on their respective charts throughout the tracking year. Any activity recorded outside a title’s chart run is not included in these rankings. This methodology, combined with the October-to-October timeframe, accounts for differences between these lists and the calendar-year recaps compiled independently by Luminate. The Top Artists category ranks the most successful acts of the year based on performance on the all-genre Billboard 200 albums chart and all-genre Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, alongside Billboard Boxscore (touring) for the 2024 tracking period.
Now, let’s dive into the rankings and explore the artists who have secured the positions from No. 10 to No. 7 for 2024.

10. Kendrick Lamar: A Recap of His Stellar 2024 Achievements
Kendrick Lamar wraps up 2024 at No. 10 in Billboard’s year-end Top Artists ranking. His position is primarily attributed to the impressive performance of his previous albums on the Billboard 200 albums chart, rather than his recent release GNX, which debuted at No. 1 on the December 7, 2024-dated chart—well after the eligibility period for the 2024 year-end rankings. During this tracking year, which spanned from October 28, 2023, to October 19, 2024, Lamar’s four earlier albums maintained a strong presence on the charts, alongside four significant hits on the weekly Billboard Hot 100 songs chart. The success of GNX, including its chart-topping single “Squabble Up,” will contribute to the 2025 year-end charts.
2024 marks only the second time Lamar has achieved a top 10 finish in the year-end Top Artists rankings; his previous top 10 finish occurred in 2017 when he secured the No. 4 position, bolstered by the success of his critically acclaimed album DAMN., which produced the No. 1 Billboard 200 album and the chart-topping Hot 100 hit “Humble.”
Throughout the 2024 chart year, four of Kendrick’s past albums—DAMN., good kid, m.A.A.d city, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, and To Pimp a Butterfly—each made notable contributions to his ranking. Both DAMN. and good kid were particularly strong, each sustaining their spots in the top 20 on the charts throughout the full 52 weeks of the tracking year.
On the Billboard Hot 100 during the same period, Kendrick Lamar achieved four entries, two of which debuted at the coveted No. 1 position: “Like That” (featuring Future and Metro Boomin) and “Not Like Us.” Additionally, he scored a No. 3 hit with “Euphoria” and a No. 12 hit with “Meet the Grahams.” These tracks were part of an extensive series of diss tracks exchanged between Lamar and Drake. With “Like That” and “Not Like Us,” Lamar marked his return to the top position for the first time since 2017’s “Humble,” achieving his third and fourth career No. 1s on the Hot 100.

9. Post Malone: Celebrating His Continued Success
Following a remarkable year showcasing his diverse musical style, Post Malone concludes 2024 ranked No. 9 in the year-end Top Artists list. This marks the second consecutive year that he has made it to the top 10, further solidifying his status as a leading artist in the industry.
During the eligibility period for 2024, Post Malone achieved his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 in five years with his debut country album, F-1Trillion, which launched at the top of the chart dated August 31, 2024. The album’s lead single, “I Had Some Help,” featuring Morgan Wallen, dominated the Hot 100 for six consecutive weeks, marking the second-longest reign atop the list among Post Malone’s six career No. 1s. This single debuted at No. 1 on the Hot 100 dated May 25, just two weeks after he also topped the chart as a featured artist on Taylor Swift’s “Fortnight.”
Throughout the 2024 chart year, Post Malone had a total of six albums chart on the Billboard 200, including F-1Trillion. He also saw five of his earlier albums remain active on the chart, with his 2023 compilation album The Diamond Collection enjoying an impressive 46 weeks on the list during the chart year. Additionally, on the Hot 100, he boasted 21 charting titles, with 18 of those coming from F-1Trillion, showcasing his impact on the music landscape.
Post Malone has now made it into the year-end Top Artists top 10 in five separate years: 2024 (No. 9), 2023 (No. 10), 2020 (No. 1), 2019 (No. 1), and 2018 (No. 2), demonstrating his consistent popularity and relevance in the ever-evolving music industry.

8. Luke Combs: The Country Star’s Remarkable Year
Country superstar Luke Combs proudly occupies the No. 8 position on Billboard’s year-end Top Artists recap for 2024, reflecting a dynamic year filled with chart-topping success on both the Billboard 200 albums chart and the Hot 100 songs chart.
In June, Combs achieved his sixth consecutive top 10-charting album with the release of Fathers & Sons, which debuted and peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard 200, coinciding with Father’s Day. Moreover, four of his previous albums continued to excel, remaining on the chart for significant durations. Notably, the trio of albums—Gettin’ Old, What You See Is What You Get, and This One’s for You—all enjoyed full-year placements on the Billboard 200, each maintaining their presence throughout the entire 52 weeks of the chart year.
On the Billboard Hot 100, Combs’ rendition of Tracy Chapman’s classic “Fast Car” continued to thrive, logging an impressive 27 weeks on the chart during the eligibility period (having peaked at No. 2 in 2023). Additionally, he debuted eight new titles on the weekly ranking, including two that reached the top 40: “Ain’t No Love in Oklahoma,” from the Twisters soundtrack, and “Guy for That,” a collaboration with Post Malone. Notably, 2024 marks the third consecutive year in which Combs has placed in the year-end Top Artists top 10, having previously ranked No. 5 in 2023 and No. 9 in 2021.

7. SZA: The Rise of a Music Sensation
SZA has claimed the No. 7 position in Billboard’s year-end Top Artists rankings, a testament to the sustained success of her two full-length studio albums, SOS and Ctrl, on the Billboard 200, along with multiple charting hits on the Billboard Hot 100.
Her album SOS, released in late 2022, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and has not left the weekly chart since its release. Similarly, Ctrl, which debuted in mid-2017, has maintained a consistent presence on the chart, being featured in nearly every week since its launch, including throughout the entirety of the 2024 chart year. This remarkable staying power contributed significantly to SZA’s achievement of ranking among the year’s top 10 Top Artists. Notably, SOS consistently remained within the weekly top 20, while Ctrl was present on the weekly top 100 every week during the eligibility period.
