Exciting Announcement: The Hives Gear Up for Billboard Women in Music 2025
Swedish rock legends The Hives are poised for a remarkable year ahead, with the exciting reveal of a new album and an extensive global tour schedule. Fans and music enthusiasts alike can look forward to their electrifying performances, which promise to showcase their signature style and energy.
This seasoned quintet, who joyously celebrated their 30th anniversary in 2023, officially announced their seventh studio album in a press release dated April 1. The announcement was creatively presented as an open letter, aimed at “whom it may concern,” yet it was clarified to encompass “everyone” who appreciates their music.
The message conveyed the thrilling news: “This announcement serves to inform you that the internationally acclaimed rock powerhouse The Hives, celebrated as the best live band on Earth and your new favorite band, recognized for their exceptional talent and daring spirit in the rock music scene, have yet again, sooner than anyone anticipated, crafted a new collection of songs that are unlike anything ever heard before, and likely will never be again,” the letter began.
The letter continued, “A brand-new album brimming with vitality, exuberance, frustration, and life that will challenge your perception of reality as you know it.” The excitement builds as they assert, “They have truly accomplished it this time. Each track is a potential hit, and every hit is a direct challenge to the status quo.”
The eagerly awaited album is titled The Hives Forever Forever The Hives and is set to release under the esteemed label Play It Again Sam on August 29. This record features 13 dynamic tracks that have been “developed with passion, abandon, and expertise in Sweden, in collaboration with renowned producers Pelle Gunnerfeldt and Mike D from the Beastie Boys.”
Additionally, the band has released “Enough Is Enough” as the lead single from the album, accompanied by a captivating video directed by filmmaker Eik Kockum, showcasing the band during their vibrant performance in Bucharest, Romania.
The Hives humorously commented, “Who in their right mind would kick off a song like this? Only The Hives could pull it off.” They express their readiness to return sooner than expected, stating they have reached a boiling point and have had enough, hence the song’s title. “Dig? Dig.”
To celebrate the launch of their new album, The Hives will embark on a spectacular world tour, kicking off in Australia this July. The tour will then traverse through North America, Europe, and the U.K. for the remainder of the year, promising fans an unforgettable experience.
The upcoming album, The Hives Forever Forever The Hives, marks the band’s seventh studio release and follows their previous album, The Death of Randy Fitzsimmons, which was released in 2023, effectively ending an eleven-year hiatus between albums for this iconic band.
Formed in 1993, The Hives initially experienced limited recognition until the release of their 2001 compilation album Your New Favourite Band. This compilation led to the re-release of their hit single “Hate to Say I Told You So,” which peaked at No. 86 on the Hot 100. Their subsequent album, 2004’s Tyrannosaurus Hives, reached a career high of No. 33 on the Billboard 200.
