Wyclef Jean Speaks Out On Trump Comments About Haitian Immigrants

Wyclef Jean has issued an announcement following Donald Trump’s baseless accusations about Haitian immigrants.

During his debate with Vice President Kamala Harris earlier this week, Trump shared a debunked conspiracy concept that Democrats are permitting small cities similar to Springfield, Ohio to be overrun by Haitians immigrants who’re, in flip, consuming the pets of the individuals who have been already residing in these cities.

Talking to TMZ on Thursday (September 12), proud Haiti native Clef requested to place an instantaneous cease to the racism.

“I will probably be eternally grateful for my household’s life, for having a good probability to reside what is known as the ‘American Dream,’” he began. “One of our greatest assets in America is that we are a country of immigrants. I speak from the heart when I say, Haitian people living in the U.S. are good neighbors and good people. We care about humanity. We care about our neighbors.

He continued: “On behalf of Haitian Americans, I ask that we stop these racist messages and accusations. Put our hands out in peace and say thanks for being my neighbor. “We need to respect one another and vote based on policies and facts, not crazy talk. And we need to shake hands with one another and be thankful we are part of an America for all.”

Earlier this year, Wyclef Jean also got involved with advocating for basic rights when he teamed up with Fat Joe and Jelly Roll to push for clearer pricing in health care.

The three artists participated in an occasion at Hamilton Live in Washington, D.C. in January put collectively by the group Power to the Patients, which advocates for sufferers to see the “real hospital prices” for medical procedures.

In an announcement in regards to the occasion, Joe defined that holding the healthcare system sincere advantages everybody from sufferers and their households to healthcare staff and even the federal government.

“The U.S. healthcare system is America’s sickness,” he mentioned. “Healthcare price transparency isn’t a partisan or complicated issue. It’s common sense. The only people opposed to it are healthcare industry interests profiting by keeping patients in the dark.”

He continued: “Clear prices allow consumers to choose affordable treatments without worrying that routine care will result in overcharges and even bankruptcy. Price transparency holds hospitals and insurance companies accountable, forcing them to compete and lowering costs, improving healthcare access, quality, and outcomes.”
